70 years ago today this gentleman Thomas Simmonds , rescued my father Thomas Rennocks from a battlefield after he had been badly injured. The tank my father was in, was hit and his legs were shattered. After a struggle to get out , he was left alone at the side of the tank in agony. Tom Simmonds ran out to my father (quite a big man) , put Dad over his shoulder and took him to safety and medical help. I never met Tom S but today both men will be in my thoughts.
